Employment of Girls
Sir, —May I appeal to the married women of Gisborne who arc in the halbil of taking jobs at Christmas to stand down this year and give the single girls who are in need of employment a chance? These girls must have work and it is a well-known fact that many are finding it hard to keep up appearances with their friends. Why cannot these married ones show a little more sportsmanship and a tittle less greed? If their husbands are in regular employment they do not need what must be a God-send to unemployed girls. Let them stay at home and make Christmas a real Christmas for their husband. He may be at the war lighting for her before another Christmas comes round. I for one refuse to shop where married women are employed. How about patriotic mothers of single girls doing the same? FAIR PLAY.
