SCHOOL FLOWER SHOW

WAERENGA-A-HIKA

HIGH STANDARD REALISED (Iloralil Correspondent.) The Waerenga-a-hika School held its first sweet-pea show last Friday, when there were over 100 entries. The judge, Mrs. Robcke, gave the children some idea of what was necessary to produce show blooms. She remarked' that for a first attempt the results were good and of a particularly even standard.

The results were:—Champion bloom: Jim Brown, 1; Nola Duncan, 2; Marie Barber, 3; Leslie Ingram, 4. Posies: Margaret Torrie, 1; Phyllis Pardoe, 2; Harley Windle, 3; Nola Duncan, 4. Six varieties: Jim Brown, 1: Jean Linklater and Margaret Torrie, tie, 2; Marie Barber, 4; Ned Scott, 5. Buttonholes: Margaret Torrie, 1; Lawrence Davies, 2; lan Macmillan, 3; Dorothy Lee, 4. Best arranged vase: Jim Brown. 1; Jean Linklater and Lawrence Davies, tie, 2; Madeline Wilson, 3; Alwyn Moore, 4. Mixed flowers: Marie Barber, 1; Harley Windle, 2; Phyllis Pardoe, 3- Margaret Torrie, 4.
