Permission to hold a Sunday evening concert in the Majestic Theatre next Sunday was granted to the City Band by the Gisborno Borough Council last night. The proceeds would be devoted to the instrument fund. An application was made to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by Mr. J. H’ansen, \yho sought a position as assistant inspector of noxious weeds. The council decided to reply that it was not at present in need of an assistant inspector. Those present at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council ■were: The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., Crs. G. Bradley Smith, H. E. Maude, R. Morse, A. L. Singer, E. Harris, G. D. Muirhead, J. H. Hall, F. Tolerton and H. H. De Costa.
