UP TO 25,000 BALES

CHRISTCHURCH WOOL APPRAISAL NEXT WEEK LIGHTER QUALITY CLIP (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Appraisement of Canterbury’s wool clip will start in the city stores on December 7. The committee of buyers, which does the valuing, is travelling on the circuit followed when sales are held normally. It is expected that with the wool now coming rapidly into store in Christchurch, the offering for the first appraisement will be between 20.000 and 25,000 bales. On the average the clip will reflect a dry spring and a hard winter, and it is expected that the wool, which otherwise is a typical "first Christchurch” selection, will be lighter in o.uality and shorter from some of the more favoured districts. However, the wool has opened up in fine condition, clean and bright. Little is known by the trade or the growers about the arrangements for the clip. Last week, Mr. H. M. Christie, chairman of the Wool Council, announceo that the prices payable for the various grades would be announced the following day. It is now learnt that these prices have not yet been completed, but they should be made public in a day or two. The net overall price to growers will be 12.18875 d in New Zealand currency.
