FIVE TO TEN YEARS
SOLUTION IN CHINA JAPANESE EXPECTATION (Reed. Nov. 28, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 26. According to the Domei News Agency in Tokio, the Japanese Prime Minister, General Abe, addressing Osaka businessmen, said that the final solution of the China problem might take five to 10 years. The launching of a new Central China Government should not be taken to mean that the China “incident” was ending. The settlement of economic questions would remain after military operations had ended. The paeifica-
tion of China would require a great effort after Marshal Chiang Kai-Shek was broken.
The Japanese Army announced that Tokio citizens’ donations in October of old woollen articles valued at 123,000 yen were sufficient to remakfc into 60,000 uniforms.
A report from Chungking says that the Chinese admit the loss of NanNing. .Much of the city is reported to be in flames. The Chinese have withdrawn to the new defences northward and westward.
