Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: Pressure is remaining very high to the east, while a weak depression is more or less stationary off the west coast of the Nbrth Isiand.

Forecast: Westerly to south-westerly at first in the far north, otherwise north-easterly to northerly still prevailing; force, continuing moderate to strong in the North Island and gradually lreshening in the South Island; seas, rough on the East Coast nortn of Kaikoura and about parts of Taranaki and Nelson, moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light, variable winds and slight seas but northerlies soon freshening in the southern portion. Weather; Fair in the far north and the southern half of the South Island, elsewhere cloudy to overcast with further scattered rain probable, conditions later becoming unsettled also in the far south. Temperatures: Mild to warm. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions still prevailed throughout the North Island this morning, the wind settling between north and east, light to moderate breezes being experienced from' East Cape southwards and fresh to high winds in the north. The barometer continued to rise. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were. —Auckland and Tauranga, 63 degrees; Opqtiki. (58: East Cape, 62: Gisborne, 64: Napier. 60: and Wellington, .68. Seas were rough north of Gisborne', and smooth to rough elsewhere.' Midday Forecast General situation: An intense anticyclone is still centred near Chatham Island, while the disturbance off the West C.oast has filled up further.
