RAILHEAD EXTENDED

SOUTHERN MAIN TRUNK PARNASSUS—HUNDALEE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Parnassus-Hundalce section the South Island Main Trunk railway was brought into commission yesterday, when a goods train from Christchurch extended its northward trip for the first time.

Although Monday is a quiet day on the line, there were fairly large consignments of freight to the new railhead, the train including nine wagon loads of goods and 15 empty stock wagons in anticipation of requirements this week. On the return trip there were three wagons of freight.
