Care of the Greens

A suggestion from Mr. J. McMillan and others was that the new greens laid down last season should be played on all the year round instead of using temporary greens during the summer months. It was considered that the continued use of the greens would be the best means of keeping them in first-class order. The greens committee was instructed to consider the position fully.

Votes of thanks were accorded the press and also the greenkeeper and his assistant, Messrs. Jack Mansfield and J. Simpson.

At a meeting of the newly-formed committee after the general meeting the following sub-commitees were appointed:—Greens committee, Messrs. J. B. Slipper, F. R. Bould, M. M. Taylor, L. L. Winter, and C. Mackay; match committee, Messrs. A. D. Tarr, J. B. Slipper, and P. H. Dow, secretary. Plans for the laying down of a further five holes to complete an 18-hole course were received from Mr. P. Robertson, and the information was referred to the greens committee for discussion.
