MONTHLY SITTING
WAIROA COURT TRAFFIC LAW BREACHES (Rpucial to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. The monthly sitting of the Wairoa Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday, Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., presiding. Pleading guilty to a charge of carrying on a passenger service contrary to the provision of the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, section. 20. James Isaac, a native labourer of ,Ruakituri, was convicted and fined £1 and costs.
William James Hole was charged with driving a motor car without due care and attention on the Napier road on October 13 in that he failed to give way to another vehicle on a one-way bridge. He was also charged with driving a car without a warrant of fitness. On the first charge the defendant was convicted and lined £2, and on the second count lie was lined 10s. Sonny Grant (Mr. G. M. O'Malley), charged with failing to send a child to school, was convicted and lined £l.
The following charges were brought by the Transport Department’s inspector, Mr. C. M. Pilkington:— Harry Run Howell, for operating a heavy motor vehicle on the NapierWairoa road when the load earned exceeded the load for which it was licensed, was fined £2 and costs. James Lawrence, for operating a heavy motor vehicle without a heavy tea flic license, was fined £3 and costs.
Joseph McKain, for operating a heavy motor vehicle on the NapierWairoa road at a speed exceeding 25 miles an hour, was fined £3 and costs.
