ON WITH THE DANCE

IN NATIONAL INTEREST

LONDON, Oct. 5.

Because they believe people should dance, even though there is a war on, Brighton magistrates granted an extention of licensed hours for hotel Saturday dances during October. The Mayor, Mr. -T. Talbot Nanson, said: "We feel it is our duty in the national interest to keep up the spirits of the people and encourage legitimate forms of entertainment.” Granting of the extension had been opposed by the chief constable, who said hotels would have an unfair advantage over cinemas and dance halls compelled to close at 10 o'clock.
