WORLD AFFAIRS

LECTURER’S VIEWS Mr. Sard F. du Picssis, the South African evangelist and lecturer who commenced a campaign in Gisborne at the City Ilall last Sunday night, is continuing on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Sclvyn Tall, but on Saturday and Sunday nights at the City Hall. Last Sunday night the speaker claimed that the history of Soviet Russia minutely fulfilled' the prophecies concerning this nation, written 2500 years ago. It was amazing to realise, he contended, that Russia's pact with Germany was foretold by the prophet Ezekiel, her colour described by Nahum and Revelations, the name of her dictator foretold by Jeremiah, and now after many centuries, these prophecies; were being fulfilled precisely as described. “Her ultimate aims and destiny also were plainly foretold," said the speaker. “She is destined to be the chief nation of a league of nations, of which Germany is a member; hence the possibility of the German nation turning communistic after the present war. This confederation of nations will expound towards the East, but will be defeated in a great battle in Asia." On Saturdav night Mr, du Ples.sis will give a lantern lecture entitled "Armageddon." and on Sunday night his subject will be "Hitler- -the man of Destiny!"
