UNLUCKY ATHLETE

TENDON INJURED P. F. Sharplcy. triple New Zealand athletic champion and record holder —he won the 100yds, and the 120yds and 220yds hurdles events last March —scarcely escapes a season without trouble of some kind. Usually it is a pulled muscle. Already

this summer he has been unfortunate in this • respect, as recently a knife slipped in his hand and cut a tendon rather severely. Sharplcy, as a consequence, will be unable lo start training until he makes a more or less full recovery. .However, apart from the inconvenience of an injured hand, the delay should not effect Sharpley's prospects at the next annual meeting.
