TENNIS PLAYER ILL
,f. W. Gunn. Auckland Wilding Shield tennis representative, who was returning home from England when war was declared, was compelled to break his journey at New York in order to undergo an operation for appendicitis. He is reported to be making good progress and to bo convalescing in California, blit il is unlikely that lie will be fit for match play this season.
