COUNTRY CRICKET

TE KARAKA SUCCESS TOWN TEAM BEATEN (Humid Correspondent.) A match between a combined town eleven and the To Karaka Cricket Club, played last week-end, finished with Te Karaka the winners on the first innings. Weather conditions were ideal. Batting first, othe home team made 102, 11. Sydney notching 22, Wilson 2U, and C. Hardacre 18. Welsh took four wickets, and Osgood four, at moderate cost. The Gisborne side replied with 82, Welch, 22. R. Stephenson, 24 not out, and McFadyen, lfi, being the only batsmen to show any form. Goodley took four wickets, and Moverley and Sydney two each. Te Karaka failed badly in the second innings, and made only 47. Osgood proving deadly in attack and taking five wickets for eight runs. Gisborne had three wickets down for 58 in their second strike when time was called, Welch having made 52 not out in hurricane style. During the coming week-end, the Te Karaka club will play 1.0.0. F. in Gisborne, the following team having been selected from the country club players:—ll. Sydney, F. Goodley, P Hardacre, M. Kyno, 11. Lynn, A. Clayhen. J. Cudd, A. W. Moverley, ,f. Stephenson, G. .Tones, ,T. Wilson, and C. Hardacre.
