Fires at Racecourse.
Two outbreaks of fire occurred in the old public stand at the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting at To Rapa on Saturday. The fires were discovered in their incipient stages and, as there were ample supplies of fire-fighting equipment and numerous firemen available, the fires were extinguished before any damage was done and no i alarm was caused. On two previous ! occasions fires broke out in the same | stand, and, as fire-fighting equipment | was not then immediately available, fairly large holes were burned into the floor of the stand before the fires were suppressed.
