NEW ZEALAND CHAMPION PLACINGS AT WANGANUI WINNER TAKES £36 The winning carcase in the New Zealand chilled beef championship held in conjunction with the Wanganui A. and P. Association was described by the judge on the hoof, Mr. S. S. Timbs, Wanganui, as the finest carcase in the competition since the New Zealand chilled beef championship class was instituted. It was the ideal beef animal. An interesting comparison of the judgings on the showground and on the hooks is given below, together with the prize-money won by each of the placed carcases: — Championship, Mr. D. G. Grant, Dannevirke. —First at the show, £ls 15s; Aberdeen Angus Society special, £5 ss; first on hooks. £ls 15s; total, £3G 15s. No. 29, Mr. Ken. Duncan, Hunterville. —Second at the show, £7 17s Gd; third on the hooks, £4 14s 6d: Aberdeen Angus Society special, £5 ss; total, £l7 17s. No. 26, K. Duncan, Hunterville. — Third at the show, £4 14s Gd; fourth on the hooks, £1 11s Gd; total, £G Gs. No. 34, Tuatane Stud, Waipukurau.— Fourth at the show, £1 11s Gd; second on the hooks, £7 17s Gd; total, £9 9s. In all, £GS 2s was won by four of the animals entered.
