PROTEST DEFERRED

WOOL CONTROL PLAN BROKERS IN LONDON VIEWS ON DISTRIBUTION (Reed. Nov. 20, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 18. The Evening News learns that City wool merchants have postponed a mass meeting of protest arranged to be held on Tuesday pending the ful- s filment of a promise by the Minister of Supply to review the control scheme, which allegedly threatens to throw 40 firms out of business. With the wool trade fallen from a turnover of £10,000,000 to almost nothing because of the control operating from the Midlands, City firms demand the distribution of all wool purchases from overseas through normal channels and that all existing importers’ brokers be classified as Government agents and paid a commission for their services.
