NEW CRAFT LAUNCHED
BUILT BY AMATEUR
HIGH STANDARD SET
Yet another launch was added today to the pleasure cruising craft in Gisborne, the boat being the 18ft. cruising runabout built by Mr. lan M. Page, 64 Grey street. The Waitemata, as it is named, took Mr. Page nine and a-half months to construct and has set a high amateur standard to be followed by prospective enthusiasts with a bent in that direction. The builder said that he had had a great deal of assistance in his work from Mr. J. N. Nalder, and on the mechanical side by Mr. A. C. Coleman. The boat is powered with a fourcylinder motor ancl is expected to be capable of a speed of about 15 knots. The cab is enclosed, and the dashboard resembles that of a motor car. Comfortable seating accommodation is provided for six persons. The launching ceremony was carried out this morning from the landing stage of the Gisborne Rowing Club, ancl there was a large gathering present, including many members of the Poverty Bay Power Boat and Small Craft Club.
