TEMPERATURE RISING

HIGHEST THIS SUMMER 82DEC. AT WAIKANAE During the past two days a sharp rise in the temperature lias taken place and a peak was reached today with a reading of 82 degrees in the shade at the Waikanae Beach. There was almost a calm after midday, the light breeze during the morning coming from a north-westerly direction. The maximum was reached about 2 p.m. and then the temperature started to drop slightly. The previous highest figure this summer was. of 71 degrees on October 26. On Monday the temperature was as low as !34 degrees, but a change was noticed a s the wind changed from southerly to northerly, It was not possible to obtain the maximum temperature recorded to-day at the meteorological station. However, it if generally known to be warmer al the Waikanae Bench than at the Darton Field aerodrome.
