CAPTURE DENIED
FIGHT FOR PAKHOI BID TO PUSH INLAND KWANGSI PROVINCE CHINESE RESISTANCE (Elac. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 18, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 17. The Shanghai correspondent of the United States of America says that the Japanese occupied Pakhoi after heavy fighting in the suburbs. A correspondent of the Domei News Agency with the forces states it is planned to drive inland to Anning in the Kwangsi province. A column may be sent to the Yunnan province. He added that the vanguard was already 30 miles inland. Chinchow, Fancheng and other cities have been occupied. The Chungking correspondent of the New York Times says that' the Chinese deny that Pakhoi has fallen. They claim that the Japanese were repulsed at Lungmen after a night of bitter fighting and are maintaining an insecure foothold at Shisha, a few miles away. The Chinese are rushing reinforcements to Lungmen.
