THIRSTY GISBORNE
! DE LUXE DRINKS WELCOME TRUE FRUIT FLAVOURS Gisborne is well known for its hot, dry summers, and consequently the climate is sometimes described as "thirsty." This year Gisborne people have a special treat awaiting them in the form of'new'De Luxe aerated waters and cordials. These delightful drinks should receive a warm welcome, because their true fruit flavours are refreshing and satisfying. "We are confident that the public and retailers of Gisborne will loyally support any local industry, provided it produces a quality article," said Mr. F. Wise, managing director of De Luxe Cordials, Limited, to a Herald reporter. . "To produce good soft drinks and cordials it is necessary to have the most modern plant," added Mr. Wise. "AH our equipment had just left England a few days before war was declared, and therefore it is the newest in New Zealand." The new plant installed in the modern De Luxe factory at 277 Palmerston road includes a bottle washer of advanced design, steam boiler, carbonator, bottle filler, labelling machine, syrup-making and filtering machines. This up-to-date equipment, plus the use of the finest flavourings, essences and ingredients, will enable the De; Luxe factory to produce the highest quality aerated waters and cordials, j
Mr. Wise considered that Gisborne needed more secondary industries to stimulate its progress, but much depended upon the loyal and enthusiastic support of the whole community. If these secondary industries succeeded, additional employment would be provided for local workers, and a j general improvement in business conditions would take place. Every recipe for the new aerated waters and cordials is being thoroughly tested. Only when perfection has been attained will the drinks be released for,, sale. Therefore, the public can be assured that when they see the attractive De Luxe labels on display they can enjoy a drink which is perfectly flavoured and delightfully carbonated. It will be a De Luxe drink in reality as well as in name.*
