GUIDES ENROLLED
TE ARAROA CEREMONY NEW TIKITIKI MEMBERS (Herald Correspondent.) In Te Araroa recently, an interesting ceremony took place at the mission house, when the first four Guides of the newly-formed' Guide Company at Tikitiki were enrolled. The enrolment was carried out in Te Araroa in order that the presentation of the candidates to the company officer. Miss W. Hoplcy, should be made by a fully-qualified Guide. There has been a Guide company in Te Araroa for a few years, but the work in Tikitiki has just begun. The four girls were Mate Smith, Girlie Dewcs. Girlie Walker and Wati Ferris, lenders, accompanied by MLss J, Archibald. It was intended that the programme should begin with a picnic lunch, but as the day was dull and windy this was abandoned. However, the girls enjoyed lunching with some of the Te Araroa Guides in the cheerful mission room at. the mission house. After lunch, a short service was held in the chapel. Miss Bicklle spoke to the girls on leadership and loyalty. Outside the flag was run up and saluted and the badges presented. After the ceremony, games and afternoon tea were enjoyed inside. Nurse Banks, a very welcome guest, joined in. Tl'ese four girls are now leaders of patrols, and are helping to get others ready for enrolment. The Te Araroa Guides present were Annie Pepere, who was enrolled that ! day, Ellen and Hine Apanui, Eliza Gcrrard, Heria and Alice Bristow, and Miss Luce. I
