Miss D. Bagnall returned last night from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. S. Bousefield, Whakatane, is the guest of Mrs. F. M. Price, Aberdeen road. Mrs. J. O. Harris. Nuhaka, is the guest of Mrs. R. W. J. Edwards. Clifford .street, Mr. ami Mrs. 'l'. Alston Coleman. Ilinaki .street, are returning to-day from a brief visit to Napier. Miss D. Seattle, diocesan organiser of Sunday schools, who has been staying with Miss E. Davies, Rawiri street, left yesterday for Napier. The Bishop of VVaiapu, the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard, is arriving at Gisborne to-day and will be the guest of Canon A. F. Hall- and Mrs. Hall, "The Vicarage," Cobden street, while fulfilling a round of engagements.
Members of the Gisborne Women's Club are advised by advertisement in this issue that a social function will be held at the club on Wednesday. November 22, at 7.30 p.m. A musical programme has been arranged and members are assured of an evening of delightful entertainment. The wedding was to take place in England yesterday of Camille Enright Malfroy, New Zealand Davis Cup player and former Dominion tennis champion, to Sybil Gordon, Bordersmead, Loughton, Essex. Mr. Malfroy is the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Malfroy, Wellington. Informal Party Bridge and mah-jongg were enjoyed by the guests at the delightful party given by Miss A. Thomas at the home of her aunt, Mrs. W. R. B. Willock, Heta street, on Thursday afternoon, for Miss J. Blair, to-day's bride. Roses, irises and carnations filled the drawing-room with fragrance, and in the dining-room, where afternoon tea was served, a posy of mixed flowers was used with artistic effect in the decoration of the tabic. Miss Thomas looked smart in a frock of navy blue and -white spotted sheer, accented with a large white shoulder flower. The guest of honour chose a becoming frock of floral linen and a hat to tone. Among the guests were Mesdames H. G. Kemp and J. Holdsworth (Puha); Misses E. Thomas, B. Bellorby H. Barker, J. Williams, J. Strouts (Wanganui), V. Dodd, V. Harding (Waipukurau), B. Kemp, S. Barton, L. Miles, P. Burke, S. Muir. and B. Willock. Kahutia Bowling Club The final of a very successful series of social functions sponsored by the social committee of the Kahutia Bowling Club was held in the club's pavilion on Wednesday night. There was, as usual, a large attendance of members and friends, and dancing and competitions provided entertainment in variety. The supervision of the floor was in the capable hands of Mr. R. Watt, and Mr. J. Gooch was responsible for a much-enjoyed extra. A statue dance competition was won by Mrs. H. Wootton and Mr. S. Gooch, and honours in a Monte Carlo waltz contest were annexed by Miss P. Burnett and Mr. J. Dower, while Mrs. Craill and Mr. J. Gooch emerged the winners of a spot waltz competition. A delectable supper was served informally by the lady members of the club.
