SALVATION ARMY
WORK FOR SOLDIERS The social amenities provided for members of the Special Force by the Salvation Army are being taken full advantage of by the soldiers, and reports from the mobilisation camps indicate that large numbers are regularly making use of the facilities placed at their disposal during off duty hours.
Pending completion of a permanent building the Salvation Army’s quarters at Trentham are in a lax-ge marquee and nightly attendances there are said to be in the neighbourhood of 700. The institute provided in Waterloo quay, Wellington, immediately behind the railway station for members of all arms of the fighting forces is also well patronised. The officers in charge of the Salvation Army institutes are:—Narrow Neck, Adjutant W. Thompson; Auckland, Gunner L. Toomer; Papakura, Adjutant Chandler; Ngaruawahia, Captain Herring; Levin, Captain Bundle; Trentham, Brigadier Perry; Wellington Railway Station, Brigadier Greene; Blenheim, Major Hawkins; Lyttelton, Captain Morley; Christchurch and Wigram, Adjutant Bicknell; Burnham, Major Thorne; Taieri, Captain Pauling; Wellington East, Major Neeve. . .
