OPPOSITION LEADER
“We are fighting for religious and democratic freedom,” said the Leader of the Opposition in the Canadian Federal Government, Dr. R. J. Manion, in a broadcast speech.
Unless the democratic nations were successful in stopping the advance of international gangsterism there tvas a danger of the whole of civilisation being overwhelmed and the religious beliefs of all people engulfed, Dr. Manion declared. For some inexplicable reason the Nazi Government in Germany, and to a similar degree the Soviet Government in Russia, had warred on religion of all kinds.
Canada could not have remained neutral and at the same time loyal to the British Empire,
