The Carcas t Venezuela) corrosspondent of the Associated Press of America reports that the important oil port of Lagunillas on Lake Maracibo has been destroyed by fire. It is -believed that 800 people are dead or injured. Two thousants huts of oil workers were destroyed. The flames are sweeping the oily waters of the lake where the town was built. The authorities, with the co-opera-tion of the oil companies, which operate hundreds of oil wells drilled in the lake bed. rushed all the available boats to Lagunillas. The injured were taken to relief camps hurriedly established in nearby towns. The Government sent aeroplanes, doctors and nurses.
