SECRET SESSION TALK
REQUEST BY PEERS
FRANK DISCUSSIONS
ißeed. Nov. l(i, Noon.l LONDON, Nov 15
A majority of peers in the House of Lords have urged that a secret session be held to afford more frank discussions.
Lord Elton instanced the war aims as a typical subject and said that 10 weeks ago Britain was fighting for Poland against aggression. Later it appeared that Britain was also fighting for Czechoslovakia. "Now it seems that we are fighting for Austria as well,” he added. Neither the House of Lords nor the House of Commons had discussed nor sanctioned this. Lord Stanhope, replying, said that the time might come when a private session would be necessary, but .he country was at present united on aii great matters, making such _ a move unnecessary. If a secret session were held the public might feel it was not getting the whole truth and a would give foreign propagandists the opportunity of malicious distortion. , , He added that the Government had given Uie general terms of the war. aims. A more detailed statement at present was unnecessary.
