Last Night's Forecast
General situation: An extensive anticyclone is moving slowly on to the Dominion, the highest pressures being in the north. A series of weak depressions continue to pass in the tar south.
Forecast: Winds rather variable, with southerlies at first in the Auckland province, and northerlies gradually predominating about and south of Cook Strait, light to moderate but freshening somewhat in the South Island. Seas: In New Zealand waters —rather rough at times about Foveaux Strait, otherwise slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to
strong westerly winds in the southern portion with rather rough seas, elsewhere light and variable winds and slight to moderate seas. Weather: Continuing fair to fine and settled over the greater part of the Dominion. occasional showers, however, in the far south and showers later extending to parts of Westland. Temperatures: Becoming milder. To-Day's North Island Report The variation in the barometric pressure during the 24 hours ended al 9 a.m. to-day was small. In northern districts the pressure was slightly higher this morning, while a small decline was shown in the readings from Gisborne southwards. The temperatures reach,ed the highest level reported for two weeks. 07 degrees being reported at Napier, with 00 as Castlepoint, 03 at East Capo. 01 at Auckland. 00 at Wellington, Cape Campbell, Gisborne. Opoliki and Tauranga: Bight north-westerly winds were general over the southern section, while strong south-westerlies prevailed in the north. Sunny weather was reported at nearly all points.
