FEMALE CATTLE SALE

STORES SELL BRISKLY The offering of 2433 female cattle in the store section of the Matawhcro Cattle Fair, which concluded yesterday, met with a remarkably brisk sale. Considerable buying was done by a well-known Hawke’s Bay purchaser, and this business materially contributed to the success of the fair. Good business also was done by a Whakaa"'> buyer

Cows running calves in two instances reached £6 ss, while light to medium conditioned lots made £4 10s and £4 17s. Empty cows were in keen demand, whatever the condition. One pen of fat and forward made the high figure of £0 12s. Several first class pens made from £5 to £5 1 Os; with store condition, from £4 to £4 -10 s;

and with light condition, from £3 4s to £3 lGs

Grown heifers reached £5 18s for Mr. W. Turbull’s excellent entry, and the same vendor’s second pen made £5 15s. Several pens made from £5 upwards. Two-year heifers varied considerably in quality, ' a. fevv pens making from £4 12s to £5, while inferior made from £3 5s to £3 10s. Yearling heifers ranged from £3 to £3 8s for best lines, with fairly good £? 10s upwards. Fresh conditioned young Jersey cows found a good market at £3 to £3 Bs. Good condition grown Jersey heifers reached £4 4s and yearlings £3 2s Gd.

The total entry of fats and stores for the fair was 488 G.
