The Southland Racing Chib's meeting will be held on Saturday. Sailing Lady should be hard to beat in the Southland Cup, and her stablemate, Boswell, will be a warm fancy for his engagements. Both have done exceptionally well since they raced at Gore, states a southern exchange.

Doubleack may make it three on end in the hack "seven.” He won a double in line style at Gore and lias gone along the right way. R. E. McLellan looks like having a field day with his team, which includes Sailing Lady, Boswell and Doubleack. Colt By Gay Hunter Mr. E. Warren's mare Ilipparchin has thrown a colt foal to Gay Hunter. Hipparchia is the dam of-Whetu. who was .successful in a race at each of the local clubs’ meetings.

Suffering From a Cold Gold Flight was suffering from a cold and was only produced once at Riccarton, when she ran third. It is a pity that she was not herself, as the two-year-old events were not hard to win, and there is not the slightest doubt that, fit and well, she would have beaten some of the winners.

Amigo Reappears Amigo is back on the tracks at Wanganui after an enforced spell caused by striking himself, and later an attack of skin disease. The Beau Pere gelding-is looking in great heart, having put on considerable condition, but liis owner-trainer expects to have him well forward for the Auckland meeting at Christmas, prior to which he might be given a run at Wooclvillc. Successful Rider E. Preston, who rode Rivetlc to victory in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, served his apprenticeship with 11. R. Telford, who brought him from Adelaide when he took Phar Lap there to win the King’s Cup.

Paper Money Blood One sire who has made a definite contribution to the improvement of thoroughbred shock in the Dominion is the Greenback horse Paper Money, who ran third in the English Derby prior to his importation to New Zealand. Ilis blood was in marked evidence on the second day’s racing at Riccarton.

Lady Leigh, a daughter of Paper Money, won the Criterion Handicap, the principal handicap event of the day. Beaulivre, thf Derby victor, is out of the Paper Money mare Passbook; Globe Trotter, the Epsom Handicap winner, is out of another Paper Money mare, Sight Draft: and Not Out, the Strowan Plate winner, is also out of a Paper Money mare, Dutch Money. In the sire line, Duncnnnon, the best hack at the meeting, who had a double to his credit, is by the Paper Money stallion Inflation. Such an array of success, direct and collateral, is something out of the ordinary. “Only a Pony” A New Zealander who saw Rivetlc win the Caulfield Cup described her as “only a pony,” but he said he was so impressed by her finishing run that he “left a little for her in the Melbourne Cup.” “Under a very light weight,” he added, “she might be galloping when some of the good ones are stopping.”

RivettG is a six-year-old marc whose stamina has not been overtaxed. Threatened with unsoundness, she has been lightly raced. At one time it was feared she ..would lose her sight. Special treatment saved her from blindness. She is a member of the No. 1 (Bruce Lowe) family, and her pedigree is well filled with staying lines. Like many other winners of Jong races in Australia, she possesses Musket blood. She is lay imported Rousard from Riv. by Cyklon from White River, by The White Knight from Gyp by Grafton. Cyklon was by Spearmint, grandson of Musket, and The White Knight was a fine stayer by Desmond. Rousard is a son of Son in Law. Rivctte's dam, Riv. is said to be identical with Riverside, who competed among the ponies and twice won the Ascot Thousand.

Wanganui Teams The Wanganui trainer V/. Raynor will leave to-day for To Rapa and the Fordc-11 trainer D. Marks will leave for the same destination.

Raynor will take Entail. Homily and Dynasty, and Marks will take Taurangi, Ruutiti and Scandal.

Since winning at Stratford, Taurangi has gone on the right way, and she should be at the top of her form for the Waikato Cup, in which she has B.lk. This is a fair weight for her to carry over 11 furlongs, but she will not want for support.

Ruatiti appears all the better for his race at Stratford. The Limond gelding has not reached lop form this season, but with the racing he has had he is steadily improving, and lie may give a taste of his real quality at To Rapa.

Scandal is to contest the Taupiri Hack Handicap, six - furlongs, on Saturday. The Bulandshar gelding has improved with each race so far this season. He will have a stronger field to meet at To Rapa, but he .should pay his way on tile trip.
