WET CANTEENS
DECISION PENDING EXPECTED THIS WEEK It is expected that the Cabinet will decide, possibly this week to establish wet canteens in the military camps in New Zealand. The necessary authority, it is stated, can be obtained by invoking the Emergency Regulations Act l > effect the suspension of Section at) of the Defence Act, 11)011, which prohibit.', the taking of alcoholic liquor into any camp or place of military exercise. As will) tin' dry canteens, control may be invested in Iho [nlei'ria! Marketing Division. Whore an additional building has to he erected in any of the camps for the wet canteens, the course; probably will be adopted of having the dry canteen at one enrl and the wet canteen at the other, with tables and chairs in the centre.
Equipment of the wet section, it is stated, will follow that of the ordinary licensed hotel. The buildings probably will be erected near the “.shopping blocks" and cafeterias, which are also provided for some of the camps,
