IDLE U.S. SEAMEN
PROVISION OF RELIEF COAST GUARD SCHOOLS (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Dress Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 14, 2.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Nov. 13. The Coast Guard Service has ordered training schools to enroll only seamen rendered idle by the neutrality law. It announced that it is establishing a new school to accommodate an additional 1000 men as part of the Administration’s programme to assist seamen rendered idle as a result of the suspension, of trans-Atlantic services resulting from the appeal by the National Maritime Union to President Roosevelt.
The schools will give the recruits food, shelter, clothing and transportation and also a minimum of CT 4s cash monthly.
