LESS CRIME IN BRITAIN

LONDON, Oct. 27. Serious crime in September was the lowest for 25 years. Only 12 burglaries occurred in London since September 4, and they were mostly in the daytime.

It is believed that criminals are deterred by the severity of judges in dealing with any sort of offences during block-outs and also that the petrol restrictions prevent speedy "getaways” by car. The unusually quiet conditions enabled the Commissioner of Police, Sir Philip Game to grant holidays to almost every member of the detective force.
