Four miles of the waterfront are picketed. i The Ships Clerks’ Association had called a strike for (i p.m., Pacific time, and ordered out a picket line. Mr.. Harry Bridges, the Australian leader of the Longshoremen’s Union, announced that longshoremen would refuse to pass the line, and would give I full support to the strike, which will immediately ailed 19 vessels, mostly freighters.
