Leading over the last seven furlongs, Triode won the Oaks Stakes comfortably at Flemington to-day. The clever riding tactics of D. Munro were big factors in his success. Dreamsomc finished second. Most of the trip he battled gamely but he had no chance of catching the winner. Climax finished well to fill third place. Zonda had every show. The New Zealanders, Quietly and Bem.orua were outclassed.
The trainer, J. Mulcahy, won the Oaks previously with Mufti. Cheery Jack atoned for his failure on Cup dav by a comfcnable win in the November Hurdle. Frisco made a game effort, leading most of the way Cosgard was a moderate third.
Securities scored his second win in three starts with a narrow victory in the Byron Moore Stakes. Earl Marshall went a game race. Trueness maintained a consistent record, gaining third „p!,ace. Securities accepted for the Maribyrnong Plate, but was debarred from starting because of the fact that his dam was not registered for the required time. Thrilling Race
The Linlithgow Stakes was a thrilling race. High Caste was four lengths behind at the home turn but caught the pacemaker, Manrico in the last stride. Hilton was a pioor fourth.
The sectional times were: First two furlongs 26lsec.; last half-mile 47|sec. It was one of the best efforts in High Caste’s career. The Veteran. Stakes provided an exciting finish when Fearless came through on the rails to beat Bathing Beauty, who finished strongly wide out. Pibroch was a good third. The Progeny, trained by the former jockey, W. Duncan, had a surprise win. in the Carnival Handicap. He wore Duralium down in the last few strides. Aranui was a good third. Results:—
