OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW WAIROA INSTITUTE (Special io tho Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Outstanding success crowned the efforts of the Wairoa Women’s Institute when the 193!) annual flower show and second open show was held m the Mayfair Hall yesterday. The entries compared more than favourably with previous years and were of an exceedingly high standard. The judge of the roses, sweet peas, miscellaneous and vegetable sections. Mr. IS. Teague, commented favourably on the fine classes of blooms, and staled that he had noticed a great improvement in the quality of the exhibits. He expressed pleasure a. seeing on show Russell lupins and bearded irises, and added that the flowering shrubs were exceptionally good, the competition in this section being particularly keen. The champion rose bloom in the show went to Mrs. K, 11. (Ilcndining, whose exhibit, “Josephine," presented a fine display. Favourable comment was made, also by Hie judge on the Wairoa Borough Council's exhibit of poppies and roses.
Miss Ebbitt, Hastings, was the judge of the decorated and children’s classes, and Mrs. W. Sturm judged the cooking.
