RANGITOTO MYSTERY

INQUEST ON MAN After several months of extensive police inquiries had failed to find any clues to his identity, an inquest into the death of an unknown man found on Rangitoto Island on June 1G wn c held by the city coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, in Auckland this week. Evidence was given that the body was found on a beach above highwater mark, death having occurred apparently some weeks earlier. There were nd marks of violence on the man, who was thought to be a Maori or half-caste, aged about 25 years. The coroner returned a verdict of found drowned.
