As a result of heavy rain during the week-end and a forecast for further rain, the Fleminglon track is certain to be soft to-morrow for the Melbourne Cup. Despite Gold Salute's poor race in the Victoria Derby on Saturday, his owner has stated that the colt is certain to be a Cup runner. Procyon injured a groin in the Maribyrnong Plate and will be given a long spell. Bourbon was retired and will go fo the stud. He has not broken down but leg weaknesses make it useless to persevere in training him. The suspension of J. O'Sullivan for one month has necessitated the engagement of a new rider for Coorar.ga hi "the'Cup. A. Breasley has been se* cured.
