UNITED STATES SHIPS PERMISSION SOUGHT (Reed. Nov. 7, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. G. The New York Times says that the United States Line, the operator of a large fleet affected by the Neutrality Act, is planning to seek permission to operate at least nine 7500-ton freighters of the American Banker type under the pan-American flag and manned by non-American crews.
