Dr. C. D. Henry has relinquished his duties as police surgeon in Wellington after being connected with the force for about 40 years.
Captain Tahu Rhodes, Christchurch, has been promoted to the rank .of major and lias been appointed railway transport officer for the London district.
Captain E. G. Rhodes, Christchurch, who is at present in London, has been appointed by the Admiralty to supervise the arriving of merchant ships in the Port of London. Mr. Mostyn Holden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Holden, Wellington, who has been attached to the Air Force at Blenheim since the outbreak of war, will leave for England sbon. The. Rev. D. J. A. Shaw, formerly of Hastings, and recently appointed Presbyterian minister at. Papakura, has sent his resignation to the presbytery owing to a breakdown in health. He is at present in hospital. Lieutenant-Commander R. Hunter Blair, who is well known in New Zealand, lias been appointed flaglieutenant to the Admiral in charg of the Fleet at Scapa. He is a son of Major R. S. Hunter Blair, Christchurch.
Visitors at tlie Poverty Bay A. and , P. Association’s annual spring Show to-day included Colonel Holderness, Hastings, who is on a brief visit to Gisborne in connection with the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s annual reunion this evening.
Mrs. H. Moles, and her son Robert, of Gisborne, who spent the week-end in Wairoa as tlie guests of Mrs. C. H. Hocking, McLean street, left today for Wellington, where Mr. R. Moles will take up his position in the New Zealand Railways office. Petone. —Special.
Dr. Rowan Nicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Nicks, of Takapuna, Auckland, lias accepted the post of demonstrator in 'physiology and anatomy under Professor Kirk, of Middlesex Hospital, London. Dr. Nicks left Auckland in May to further His studies in Britain. Mr. Allan J. Moody, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, who recently suffered a spinal injury when lie slipped and fell after alighting from a tramcar, has returned to his home after three weeks in tlie Auckland Hospital. He hopes to return to his duties shortly.
Colonel W. Robertson, late Royal Engineers, has arrived in Auckland to spend a short holiday in the Dominion. Colonel Robertson, who . > has had a distinguished Army career ■> in India, Africa and Canada,, is 1 accompanied by Mrs. Robertson.
