GARDEN PARTY

ST. DAVID’S CHURCH SUCCESSFUL EFFORT A pleasant and successful garden party was held on Saturday afternoon by the ladies of St. David’s Presbyterian Guild and P.W.M.U. at “The Manse,” 321 Stout street, and in the adjoining grounds of Mrs. S. Hutchinson.

The following were the stallholders:—Fancy goods, Mesdames H. Jones and F. R. Bould; sewing, Mesdames M. Baty and W. Niven; cakes, Mesdames K. Marley and M. McGregor; produce, Mesdames. G. Hall, A. Hay, and M. Campbell; - flowers, Mrs. E. Webb; sweets and ice cream, Bible Class girls; afternoon tea, Mesdames W. Riddell, L. Gray and W. Miller, and Miss J. Gray. The spacious lawn on Mrs Hutchinson’s property was admirably suited for games -and competitions. Much enjoyment was obtained from clock golf in charge of Miss F. Currie, and the skittle alley in charge of Messrs. J. H. Bendle and A. Sebire.

The competitions resulted:—Clock golf: Mr. F. *R. Bould, 1: Mrs. K. Marley and Mrs. J. Peach, tie, 2. Skittles: Ladies, Mrs. Parker 1. Mrs. J. Dow 2: men, Mr. A. Sebire, 1. Nail driving: Miss K. Gould, 1: Miss J. Gould, 2. Towards the close of the afternoon the Rev. H. A. Gould presented the trophies and expressed the sincere thanks of the ladies of the church to Mrs. S Hutchinson for the use of the grounds, the stall-holders, competition leaders, transport helpers and all who had contributed to the success of the effort.
