SPRING BLOOMS
SCHOOL FLOWER SHOW GISBORNE CENTRAL Form II girls of the Gisborne Central School held a flower show in their class room on Thursday to display the sweet-peas-grown by the members of the sweet-pea club. For those who did not grow sweet-peas there were decorative sections.
The entries were divided into 11 classes, almost all of which drew keen competition, the whole making a beautiful display of spring flowers that was admired by the many parents present
The exhibits were judged by Mesdames Clare and Crone. After judging they commented on the display, giving many useful hints about sweet peas and the arranging of flowers for decorative purposes.
Thanks to the judges were extended by the headmaster, Mr. \J. E. Shimmin, who also commended those contributing to the show on the highly attractive exhibition.
Miss Reynolds, teacher of Form II girls, gave an outline of the objects of-the show, and said that the exhibition deserved very high praise.

G. Calvert one of the prime movers m the establishment of the club, expressed satisfaction concerning She keen interest shown and the progress of the club. He particularly thanked the committee members and stewards for their excellent work.
Affernoon-tea was served by the girls. A special prize for the most points gained in all classes was presented by Miss Reynolds. The show was organised by a committee from Form II girls under the supervision of Miss Reynolds.

Kytola, 2; Elizabeth Revell, 3 Bowl of spring (lowers: Beryl James. 1; Dorothy Hart, 2.1 Vase of spring flowers: Phyllis Bartlett, 1; Dulcie Webb, 2; Valerie Algic, 3. Decorated bow! or vase of native flowers, berries or foliage: Shirley Humpreys. Most original decorated vase: Joyce Markie and Shirley Rowson, 1; Sonia Kytola, 2.
