TO-DAY’S WEDDING

CRARER-UTTING

GOWN OF IVORY DAMASK

A pretty weddirg of interest to a wide circle of friends was solemnised in Holy Trinity Church, Derby street, this afternoon, when Thelma Emily, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. lifting, tiaronga road, Gisborne, was married to John Stewart Crarer, Tokomaru Bay, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Crar. r. Wairoa. The ceremony was performed by Canon A. F. Hall, and Mr. D. G. Dyer presided at the organ. The church had been decorated by friends of the bride with a wealth of summer blooms, sprays of beautiful flowering chestnut blending most effectively with the delicate colour scheme. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an exquisite frock of ivory metal damask girdled with a heavy silver cord. The bodice, showing long closely-moulded sleeves terminating in a deep point over the hand, was fastened down the back with tinv matching buttons and loops. A narrow pleated frill edged the neckline and was continued down the front to accent a rucked inset. The gracefully flared skirt, just revealing ivory and silver sandals, was cut with a long train. , , , . Her filmy veil of tulle was, held m place with a coronet of orange blossom and miniature armum lilies, and was worn over the face on entering the church. A necklace composed ot three strands of pearls was the bnde s only ornament, rnd she carried a lovely trailing bouquet of cream roses, carnations, and lily-of-the-valley, intermingled with asparagus fern.

Picture Frocks

The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Doris Barton, and Mi.ss Lorraine Harris, Rere. Each wore a picture frock ot‘white organza handpainted in a floral design in forget-me-not blue, rose, pink, green and gold tonings, and a coatee to match fashioned with short sleeves upstanding at the shoulder. The sleeveless bodice was rucked in front and finished with narrow shoulder straps of gold ribbon velvet caught in a bow. The long voluminous skirt fitted closely at the hips, and a sash oi gold velvet, tied in a bow at the back, defined the waist. A coronet of roses in gold tonings made an attractive head-dress and a trailing bouquA of similarly-tinted mixed blooms was carried by each attendant, gold sandals completing the charming ensemble 1 Mr. John Weeks, Tokomaru Bay, was best man, and Mr. Walter McLean was groomsman. After the ceremony a number ot friends were entertained at a delightful reception by the bride’s parents at their riverside home, the picturesque garden, filled with the glory and fragrance (f summer, forming an effective background lor the guests.

The various Lilting-rooms wore gay with mixed -'lowers, and a wonderful array of wedding gifts was displayed in the drawing-room in a setting ot softly-tinted roses and sweet peas, . The wedding breakfast was served in a large marquee on the lawn at tables beautified with sweet peas shading from pale pink to deep rose, forget-me-nots and heuchera, and at the table of the bridal party sirm.ar blooms were arranged with artistic effect round the handsome three-tier ivory wedding cake.

Frocks at Reception

Mrs. Jttvag, mother of the bride, was wearing an elegant frock of fern green crepe gloria, designed with a pleated skirt, and an edge-to-edge three-qu u-ter length coat in a darker shade of green .-calloped down the fiont. Her hat of green Baku straw was accented with tiny pink and mauve flowers, and a bouquet of mixed blooms in similar tonings was carried. , _ Mrs. A. C. Warburton, Tolaga Bay, sister of the bride, wore a smart Dresden blue frock with navy blue trimmings, and a hat of navy straw. Mrs. -V T. Dover, Wairoa, sister of the bridegroom, chose a graceful teal green ray-pleated frock and a cream straw hat with green accents. Mrs. O. Solvander, sister of the bridegroom, was in a becoming frock of cyclamen and clover striped cloque and a clover straw hat ornamented with a silver buckle. Miss E. Crarer, Hamilton, sister of the bridegroom, ’ was smart in a powder blue frock and large pineapple straw hat to match worn with a grey marabout cape and muff. The bride and bridegroom left later for their honeymi on, which is to be spent in Wellington. The bride travelled in a smartly cut ensemble of petunia cloq le >howing a short coatee and a high-necked blouse of rucked ivory net. Her large hat of navy blue straw was relieved with touches of petunia, and navy accessories completed the ensemble. The bride was presented by ncr father with a motor car as a w'’fining gift.
