Government Plane’s Visit

One of the Blenheim aeroplanes taken over recently by the Government, a Waco machine, was flown from Wellington to Gisborne this morning by Flight-Lieutenant Rawnsley, accompanied by Mr. K. J. Crichton, who are visiting Gisborne for the examination of applicants for employment with the ground personnel of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The plane landed at Darton Field at 11.45 a.m. Flight-Lieutenant Rawnsley was for a time pilot instructor to the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club and in 1937 was appointed chief instructor to the Wellington Aero Club and officer in charge of the Wellington aerodrome.
