APPLICANTS TOTAL 1700 SELECTION COMMITTEE VISITS TO CENTRES (Pc-r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Defence, tlie Hon. F. Jones, stated yesterday that the following arrangements had been made for the selection committee of the Royal New Zealand Air Force to interview .applicants throughout New Zealand, who have applied for war service as pilots, air observers or air gunners:—

North Island. —Palmerston North. November 9 and 10: Marton, November 10; Wanganui. November 11: Hawera, November 13: New Plymouth. November 13 and 14; Te Kuiti, November 14; Te Awaniutu, November 14; llanJillon, 15 and 10; Auckland, November 17 and 23; Whangarei, November, 24; Paeioa, November 27: Tauranga, November 28: Rotorua, November 28; Whakatane, November 28; Gisborne, November 30.

Wairon, December 1; Napier, December 1 ar.d 2; Dannevirkc, December 4; Masterton, December 4; Wellington, December IS) and 23. Sou til Island. —Blenheim, December 6; Nelson, December 0; Westport, December 7; Invercargill, December 8 and 9: Dunedin, December 11 and 12; Oamaru. December 13; Timaru, December, 13: Ashburton, December 14: Christchurch, December 14 and 10.

Applicants who are to be interviewed on this occasion will receive notification of the lime and place at which they arc required to appear before the committee.

Approximately KOO candidates arc to bo interviewed, and it is proposed to arrange tor medical examination of tlie successful applicants as soon as possible after the selection. With a few exceptions, the applicants to be interviewed on the present tour will not be required to report for training until after the New Year. Completed applications received lince the closing date of tlie present list, October 14, will be considered by the committee on a subsequent tour.
