PETITIONS IN AUCKLAND The highest number of bankruptcies for the first 10 months of the year since 1933 has been registered with the Official Assignee in Auckland. Two petitions, in respect of a sawmiller and a painter, were filed in October, making the total for the year so far 48, compared with 30 for the first 10 months of 1938. From 1933 until 1937 a general decline tool: place in the number of bankruptcies, but during the last two years the tendency lias been for an increase.
