CHOICE OF DOCTOR AUCKLAND OPINION EXPERT FROM VIENNA (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. From a number of applications for the position of statistical, research officer at Auckland, the local division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society has decided to support that of Dr. F. F. Silbcrstcin, formerly professor of pathology at the university of Vienna. Delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the society were instructed to inform representatives from southern centres of the decision when the conference opens in Wellington. • Highly Recommended Advice received by cablegram from the New Zealand High Commissioner in London, Mr. W. J. Jordan, stated that Dr. Silbcrstcin was highly recommended by senior officials of the Lister Institute and the Government lymph laboratory as possessing exceptionally high qualifications. He had lost his position in Vienna solely through racial grounds. Dr. Walter Gilmour said that Dr. Silbcrstcin would not be on the medical .register, nor would he treat patients. It was decided that a letter should be sent to the Minister of Health, advising him of the executive’s decision.
It was stated by the secretary that the amount at present in hand was £1(147.
