TOKOMARU BAY CENTRE QUESTION 6FGUARANTEE MEETING OF GROWERS Keen to secure the offer of an appraisement centre at Tokomaru Bay, wool-growers of the East Coast have arranged a meeting to discuss the proposal made by the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, that additional costs of appraisement at Tokomaru Bay should be guaranteed bv Ihc growers who will make use of that port. The meeting will be held in the Manutahi Hotel, Ruatoria, at 2 p.m. to-morrow. Mr. Nash stated recently that a tentative arrangement had been made for appraisements at Tokomaru Bay, Nelson and Blenheim, in addition, of course, to the nine main centres, including Gisborne, already fixed. He added that a final decision would depend on an agreement abouL the extra cost involved in connection with appraisement at these places.
This meeting is being called to discuss the contribution towards this extra cost at Tokomaru Bay. As the matter is of such vital importance to the district, it is expected that a representative gathering of wool-growers from the northern portion of the Coast will be in attendance.
Nothing is known yet of the actual guarantee required of the growers, but it is expected that the amount should not be very big, and it should not be a difficult matter to secure unanimity among the growers, according to the feelings expressed in the district during the past few days
