i ADVISORY DUTIES HELP FOR MINISTERS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.10 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 1. After a consultation with the Prime Minister. Mr. Neville Chamberlain, and with a full conference of Ministers, the Trades' Union Congress has appointed a committee to be an advisory committee to the Minister of Supply and to the Air Ministry. The National Joint Advisory Council, whose function is to advise the Government on matters in which employers and workers have a common interest, held its first meeting to-day. The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, was in the chair and there was a full attendance of representative members nominated by the British Employers' Federation and the General Council of the Trades' Union Congress. Amongst the subjects discussed were reserved occupations and the Control of Employment Act.
