N.Z. WOMEN POLICE
COMMISSIONER'S REPORT INQUIRIES BY MINISTER (Per Press Association;) • WANGANUI, this day. Explaining in an interview to-day the position regarding the appointment of women police in New Zealand, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. 0. J. Camming;;, who is visiting Wnnganui, said that much would depend on the type of candidate offering if it were decided to appoint women to the force. Legislation ihad been passed last year giving authority for the appoint-1 ment of women. He had investigated the system thoroughly on his recent visit to Australia, and made a report to the Minister in charge of the Police Department, the Hon. P. Fraser. Thp Minister would himself make further investigations during his visit to England. When he returned the question of making appointments would be considered.
